1 Who are you?
I am Louisa! I live with my child and my cats in Jena's most open-minded neighbourhood. Before ICO-LUX, I worked in the corporate publications department of a large digital agency, before that as an editor of a well-known weekly newspaper (DIE ZEIT) in Hamburg and after my studies in academia as a historian. I also run my own feminist consultancy FMF with friends on a part-time basis. Lately, I was appointed advisory board member at Friedrich Schiller University Jena for the BMBF project ‘Gender in Focus’. I like to spend my free time cooking for family and friends, reading, making music, campaigning against the political shift to the right and, well, I try not to avoid sport too often.
2 What exactly do you do?
At ICO-LUX, I'm responsible for marketing and communication, but I'm also involved in business development: renewing the website, writing applications for prizes (and then winning them ;-), pitches, training courses, fine-tuning the product portfolio, working a lot in English on a day-to-day basis ... it's wonderfully varied! I also come up with name combinations for the break-out rooms of our conference software or enjoy the witty ideas of my colleagues.
3 What connects you to ICO-LUX?
That working here opens up new spaces for me every day, in both senses of the word! I like the fact that we use state-of-the-art technology to support the community by combating fraud. I like how smart, capable and humorous everyone in the team is. I like the fact that we work together remotely in a completely relaxed way - for example, I'm in the botanical garden in the photo. Of course, I'm also happy that my work contributes so directly to the company's success.
From science, journalism and the agency business, I know what it's like to work a lot, earn a moderate amount and deal with a lot of intransparency and competition. The fact that effort and income, impact and environment are now in such a good relationship still amazes me sometimes. Of course, the funding that we successfully applied for for my position has also played its part in my good working conditions - more precisely the funding by ESF and Federal State of Thuringia (European Social Fund Plus), project number 2024 INP 0143.
